We will start this lathe course using the Turning toolpaths available in Mastercam to machine 2 Axis Lathe parts. We will machine the part using a combination of Turning Face, Turning Profile, Turning Profile Groove, Turning Single Groove, Turning Chamfer, Turning Part (Part off Tool), and Turning Threading Toolpaths. We will also discuss Stock Transfer operations for those users that have a sub spindle on their Lathe.

The second half of the course will focus on creating 3X and 4X Toolpaths (XZC or XYZC) to produce “milled” features on a lathe part. These operations are cut using “live” tooling, and we will cover examples of radial and face drilling, radial and face contouring, cutting slots, and cutting pockets on a lathe part.

By the end of this course you will be familiar with setting up a Turning Job in Mastercam, creating the necessary toolpaths to machine the part, and post-processing your program to create G-code. Finally, we will create Setup Sheets and Tool Lists for the programs.
