This LIVE ONLINE COURSE is taught by Colin Gilchrist, Technical Director at eapprentice. Colin previously worked as post processor developer for CNC Software, the makers of Mastercam; he has worked as a CNC programmer at Boeing and as a Mastercam Instructor and trainer.

Using numerous post examples, Colin walks students through manipulating the basic building blocks of a post.  You’ll be surprised how easy it is to change the post file to accommodate different preferences in your NC file output, whether you want to put a tool table in the beginning or simply change the way any circular interpolation is output.

He also covers the relationship between the NCI file and the post processor, changes you can make to the Machine and Control Definitions within Mastercam, the basics of Numeric and String Variables, and the difference between Postblocks and Postlines.

Other topics and discussions include Drill Cycles, Formatting Numeric Variables, Modality and String Selectors, and Boolean Logic.  Throughout the course, Colin references the MP Documentation Portfolio to help students understand how to use this powerful set of documents.

At the end of the class there are four exercises to change the Generic Fanuc 4X Mill Post file.  The Generic Fanuc 4X Mill Post contains much of the same language as other post files.  It’s easy to understand and one of the most documented posts available, so it’s the perfect post for students to learn with.

Best of all, the videos are recorded access to the videos does not expire.  You can watch the videos as many times as you’d like and come back years from now to refresh your memory or find that one trick Colin showed that will make your post perfect.
